Dever Society response to Winchester’s Your Place Your Plan Strategic Issues and Priorities consultation
The Dever Society has submitted its response to the City Council’s first consultation on its new Local Plan. The response strongly rejects the option of a large new town in Winchester District as a way of building the new homes Winchester is required by the government to provide.

Have your say on development in the District and help us say NO to large new towns
As part of its work on the new Local Plan, Winchester City Council is asking residents for their views on four possible options on how to meet its housing target over the next 20 years. One of these, option 3, is to build a large new settlement in the countryside. This puts the prospect of a new town at Micheldever squarely in the frame. If we are to stop it then the Council needs to hear from as many people as possible that Option 3 is the WRONG option for the district. If the Council rejects Option 3 at this early stage of the Local Plan’s development, then the new town threat is greatly diminished. We need to act now!
