Wildlife mural at Micheldever railway station unveiled by Mayor

A mural representing local wildlife has been unveiled by Winchester’s mayor at Micheldever railway station. The colourful mural was painted on a previously blank wall in the station car park by local artist Sian Storey, and was supported financially by the Dever Society and others including Micheldever Parish Council, Winchester City Council and Southwestern Railway.

The mural was unveiled by the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Russell Gordon-Smith at a ceremony on 7th July. Earlier some 20 vintage cars has set off from the station in a re-enactment of the Ellis Run, the very first documented car journey made in the UK, in 1895, by the Hon Evelyn Ellis and his passenger Fredrick Simms, starting at the station and finishing at Ellis’s home in Datchet close to Windsor Castle.
